The University of Miami's study abroad in Amsterdam will offer students the opportunity to practice design thinking and community psychology in a different cultural context. We will explore practical design thinking strategies for engaging people, groups, and organizations in change efforts small and large to promote sustainable living across organizations, institutions, and communities. Students learn to prototype interventions, technological and otherwise, to address environmental sustainability challenges. Students also learn to practice models of facilitating research and design thinking with an assets-based mentality, attentive to cultural humility, psychological safety, race, class, linguistic practices, and gender identity.
